About the Program

Jiongeze School Outreaches is a comprehensive educational initiative aimed at addressing critical issues related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), and promoting Gender Equality among primary and secondary school students and their teachers. This project recognizes the importance of reaching out to both girls and boys to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering educational environment.

Program Objectives

  1. Prevention of GBV: To raise awareness about GBV and equip students and teachers with the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to acts of violence.

  2. Promotion of SRH Education: To provide comprehensive and age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health education to help students make informed decisions and lead healthy lives.

  3. Enhancement of WASH Facilities: To improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities in schools, ensuring a hygienic and conducive learning environment.

  4. Promotion of Gender Equality: To challenge and change harmful stereotypes and promote gender equality, encouraging students and teachers to treat one another with respect and fairness.

Key Activities

  1. Workshops and Training: Conduct workshops for teachers and students on GBV prevention, SRH education, and gender equality.

  2. Educational Materials: Developing and distributing age-appropriate educational materials such as pamphlets, videos, and posters.

  3. WASH Facility Upgrades: Collaborating with schools to improve water and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring access to clean and safe facilities.

  4. Peer Education: Training peer educators to engage students in conversations about GBV, SRH, and gender equality.

  5. Counseling Services: Offering counseling services for students who have experienced GBV or require support for SRH concerns.
